High pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) are used for size reduction or rocks and ores. They compress the feed material between two rotating rollers, one of which is in a fixed position and another roller that is floating. The two rotating rollers generate such a high pressure that it grinds the feed material to the desired smaller stone size.
HPGR or high-pressure grinding rolls have made broad advances into nonferrous metal mining. The technology is now widely viewed as a primary milling alternative, and there arc a number of large installations commissioned in recent years. After these developments, an HPGR based circuit configuration would often be the base case for certain ore types, such as very hard, abrasive ores.
HPGR technology is a qualified alternative for large-scale comminution circuits and is becoming ever more popular in minerals processing. The technology's working principle is that two counter-rotating grinding rolls expose a column of material to high pressure, which is distributed across the gap between the rolls.
Aug 07, 2019· Despite having a significantly smaller footprint than conventional “tumbling” mills, HPGR’s are high-capacity crushing units delivering a high degree of size reduction, resulting from sophisticated inter-particle grinding. Jun 01, 2005· In order to assess, in a more direct way, the ability of high-pressure roll grinding in particle weakening, copper and gold ores crushed in the HPGR and conventional crushing equipment (such as a roll crusher and a hammer mill) have been screened in narrow size fractions and tested singly in the impact load cell.
To make the mill more efficient, some roll mills are equipped with a system allowing to guarantee a high pressure (10-50 bar) in between the rolls. It is also mandatory for these mills to have a spring system allowing to release the pressure if the constraint is too important ( foreign body for example) and avoid mechanical damages.
Abstract: We comparatively studied the ball mill grinding characteristics of comminuted hematite products using a high-pressure grinding roll (HPGR) and a conventional cone crusher (CC). The major properties, including grinding kinetics and technical efficiency (E t), were investigated. The parameters in

High pressure grinding rolls. A high pressure grinding roll, often referred to as HPGRs or roller press, consists out of two rollers with the same dimensions, which are rotating against each other with the same circumferential speed. The special feeding of bulk material through a hopper leads to a material bed between the two rollers.
